We are delighted that Dr Robin Birley OBE (1935-2018) has been awarded his Gordonstoun Fellowship.

David White, Chair of Governors, was accompanied by OG Colonel Niall MacGregor Smith on a recent visit to Vindolanda to present the award to Robins wife, Patricia Birley MBE, FSA, DL and family. 

Robin was a former Gordonstoun staff member where he was David's Housemaster and taught rugby to students including Niall. He is being recognised for his commitment to making archeology accessible to all, whilst excavating, opening and preserving the Roman site of Vindolanda.
